厳戒体制のObama's Japan Visitだったが・・

ほぼ20年振りのUS PresidentのState Visit(国賓としての来日)。成果は如何？

お寿司屋でのご馳走を皮切りに、贅沢三昧のオモテナシを受けたBarack Obama氏。倍返しじゃあるまいが＜尖閣にも安保適用＞を共同声明で明記したもののその真意は・・。
“But he reiterated Washington's refusal to take sides in the sovereignty disputed called on China and Japan to resolve their differences thorough dialogue”(同氏は主権問題で一方に与しないという米政府の立場を再確認し、中国と日本は対話を通じて違いを解決するよう呼びかけた)と英紙Guardianは報じる。

更にObama氏自身、日本から韓国に向かう機内のなかで"This is not a new position. I emphasized to PM Abe the importance of resolving the peacefully keeping the rhetoric low and not taking provocative actions"
(私の立場に変わりはない。PM Abeに冷静な話し合いを維持し、挑発的行動に出ることなく平和的解決を図ることの重要性を強調した）とクギを射している。
TPP交渉は「解決の道筋は見えた」とPM Abeは言うが、残る課題の溝は深い。"Nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed to."(全品目合意しなければ大筋合意に到らず)だ。
共同記者会見での両首脳の態度はぎこちなかった。特にObama氏にとって訪日結果は期待はずれだったようだ。PM Abeの相も変らぬ歴史認識の件では冷ややかな表情を隠さない。
案の定、4/24付The NYT電子版は“Obama Suffers Setbacks in Japan and the Mideast”(オバマは日本と中東で挫折に苦しむ)と辛口の論評を寄せている。
