“先祖帰り”はご免だ。

いささか旧聞に属するが、参院選期間中Abe LDPが掲げていたキャッチフﾚｰズーー【日本を取り戻す】ー気になって仕方がなかった。その意味がわからない。
Let's take Japan backやLet us restore Japanじゃ大げさ過ぎるが、戦時を想起させるようなキナ臭さを感じた人も少なくなかろう。

投票日を前に、某タブロイド紙が“the impending return of the Liberal Democrats' effective monopoly as 'a return to the ways of our ancestors'”「『先祖帰り』とも言うべき自民独りがちの逼迫した回帰」を批判していたが、結果はその通りとなった。


The NYTの東京支局長Martin Facklerの身片は的を射て鋭い---
“And unlike some of Japan's previous colorless leaders, Mr. Abe, 58, seems eager to become such an agent of change. He campaigned on promises to make fundamental, and possibly painful, changes in the economy. But his vows to stand up to China and rewrite Japan's antiwar Constitutions to allow the legal right to maintain a full-fledged military, rather than self-defense forces, raising fears he will go too and further isolate Japan in the region”(これまでの何人かのぱっとしない日本のリーダーと違って、58才のAbe氏は変革の代理人になることが悲願であり、経済面では抜本的で多少痛みを伴う改革を断行することを公約に選挙キャンペーンを繰り広げた。が、中国に対抗するべく日本の非戦憲法を書き換え、国民に不安を煽るなかで、自衛隊を一人前の軍隊に引き上げようとするAbe氏の誓約は日本を域内で取り返しがつかないほど孤立化に向かわせるだろう）

最近の中国との関係からみれば、日本の軍備強化を進めんとするAbe氏の考えに賛成だとする国民もいるが、憲法改定を企図したとしても、今般の投票行動に照らせば、逐条的には非戦条項・平和条項の改定に否定的な国民が多数派であることが明らかだ。


某政治学者は“This is not unconditional support for Mr. Abe's whole agenda. Public support could evaporate if the economy starts to sour.
”(今度の選挙結果はAbe氏の掲げる政策に対する無条件の支持表明ではない。もし経済状況に落ち目が出始めれば、国民の支持は冷え込むだろう）
Abe LDP's landslide victoryに対するThe NY Timesの論調を見てきたが、The Washington Postも英BBC Newsも共通してrevisionist（歴史修正主義者）としてのPM Abeの正体を警戒している--

“Abe, known as a strong nationalist, also could feel his revisionist view of Asian history, one that rejects the idea of Japanese imperial invasion and infuriates China and South Korea”--The Washington Post--
“In foreign policy, Japan's immediate neighbours, most notably South Korea and China, worry that the prime minister may be planning to pursue an aggressively nationalist agenda, encompassing wartime historical revisionism, the abandonment of Article 9 (so-called 'peace clause' of Japan's constitution), and a more belligerent defense of Japan(s territorial interests in the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan”

PM Abeの有するstrong nationalistとwartime historical revisionistのイメージは我々の想像よりも海外ではで遥かに強いものがあることを認識すべきである。

Mr Abeにとっての＜日本を取り戻す＞＜先祖帰り＞は戦犯だった祖父に抱かれたいた時代への郷愁かも知れぬ。
