We Do Big Thingsを可能にするには

今朝早くBarack Obamaの全米最大の支持組織Organizing for AmericaのDirectorであるMitch Stewart氏からメールが届いた。

先日のObama State of Union Addressのキャッチフレーズ、“We do big things”をいかに推進し、達成していくかを支持者や米国民に問いかけている。
“President Obama needs Organizing for America to do what we do best to achieve this agenda”(大統領はOFAに政策達成のため全力を傾注するよう求めている)
政策実現には資金が必要だ。OFAは支持者に25＄以上の基金募集を開始した。

“The challenges ahead will be difficult enough without the politics Washington getting in the way”と強調。
“We should foster innovation and invest in our children's future through education, preparing us for tomorrow's jobs and tomorrow's industries”(我々は技術革新を進め、教育を通じて子供たちの未来のため、明日の仕事や明日の産業のため投資すべきだ)

“We should rebuild our country--from roads and bridges to high-speed rail and internet--and re-establish our infrastructures as the best in the world”(我々は米国の再建に乗り出すべきだ。道路や橋梁、高速鉄道やインターネット、そして世界一のインフラの再整備だ)
Mitch Stewart氏はObama Addressの正しさを訴えたうえで、次のように結んでいる。

“But unless we take action--unless we back up that vision with our voices and our organizing--the State of Union is just a speech”(しかし、我々が行動を起こさなければ、また大統領の掲げたビジョンを我々の声と組織的力によってバックアップしなければ、一般教書はただの念仏に過ぎなくなる)

GOP支持派はthe State of UnionはObamaのmantra、Jobs, Jobsの繰り返しすぎず“We do big things. Really?”と疑念を投げかける。

10月のthe midterm electionにおいてTea partyに担がれGOP下院候補として名を売り、結果は惨敗したChristina O'DonnellはObama Addressを“Hypocrited”(偽善的)だとこきおろしている。
